Level 2 Diploma in Childcare

PEARSON BTEC Level 2 Diploma for Early Years Practitioners

This qualification meets the needs of candidates who work or want to work in a range of children and young people’s settings, covering the age range 0-7 years.

The qualification has been designed to encompass principles of childcare, and include responsibilities such as, health and safety, safeguarding children and supporting children’s play. This qualification will also enable learners to make an informed assessment of their own aptitude for work in this sector and to make informed decisions about career progression. The learners will learn, develop and practice skills required for progression in this sector.

This qualification can be carried out as part of an Apprenticeship Standard, as well as a stand-alone qualification, depending on the eligibility of the individual learner. The duration of this course is a minimum of 12 months.

Opportunities to progress to the Level 3 Diploma and other related courses will also be provided for the learner.

• Functional Skills English
• Functional Skills Maths
• Functional Skills ICT
• Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR)
• Employed as an Apprentice within a Nursery Setting / Pre-School / Infants School.

Outcome: Level 2 Qualified (Childcare Assistant), could progress on to Level 3 Apprenticeship
