Level 2 Diploma in Playwork
 
This qualification meets the need of candidates who work, or want to work with children and young people who have opportunities for self-directed, and freely chosen play. Learners will contribute to supporting play, without full responsibility, in roles such as:
 

  • After School Club Assistant
  • Childminders
  • Holiday Clubs and Play Schemes

 
The qualification has been designed to encompass principles of Playwork, and include responsibilities such as, health and safety, safeguarding children and supporting children’s play. This qualification will also enable learners to make an informed assessment of their own aptitude for work in this sector and to make informed decisions about career progression. The learners will learn, develop and practice skills required for progression in this sector.
 
This qualification can be carried out as part of an Apprenticeship framework, as well as a stand-alone qualification, depending on the eligibility of the individual learner. The duration of this course is a minimum of 12 months.
 
Opportunities to progress to the Level 3 Diploma and other related courses will also be provided for the learner.
